Forsure whey protein. Why ? you may ask, because it was DESIGNED for the post workout drink. peanut butter, you can take that for if your into that kind of sauce.. but for me i would like something that is specialized for muscle build.
References :
life experience... + wikipedia

Never heard of that one. A peanut butter sandwich is alot cheaper than whey protein, but cannot give you the same benefits of protein. I sometimes eat a peanut butter ad jelly sandwich before working out for energy, but almost always take whey protein to help recover better.

Do a little research for yourself @ Bodybuilding.com and check out what they have to say in their supplement and forums section.
References :
It is better to drink your protein shake. Make sure your whey protein has little or no cholesterol and unhealthy fats.

You need protein for muscle repair after every workout. Muscles are made from proteins.

It's better to take omega-3 food supplements instead of peanut butter (which is rich in omega-6). Omega-3 is needed in each of your body's 100 trillion cells.

Visit the web site for more info about proteins and omega-3.
References :
www.LoseWeightToGainHealth.com

whey reaches the muscles quicker to help repair them. I would say whey is better since it is in the form of a liquid making it quicker to digest which you need post workout.
References :
It's mainly preference. However whey has more protein per serving, and less calories. But peanut butter is more filling and is cheaper. I would suggest buying organic low fat peanut butter if you are going to rely on it. The good thing about peanut butter is since it has fat, it's good for a recovery food and fuels the burnt out body. Basically, you're supposed to eat your targeted body weight in grams of protein per day. So 180lbs =180 grams.... thats alot of pb sandwiches .... where as 1 protein drink can have around 23grams-52grams plus the 6-10grams from milk.
References :
Which is better after a workout, whey protein or peanut butter?
I've been working out lately with my friend, and he claims that it is better to eat peanut butter after a workout versus consuming a protein shake made with whey protein. Which is better? He claims that since the peanut butter has more fat it will deliver the protein to the muscles more efficiently.
